Meet the founder

Hi, I'm Hauke. I built Overhear to hear what people say about my products.

I make small products, and the conversations about them happen everywhere at once: Reddit, X, YouTube, a blog post nobody linked. The monitoring tools I tried sell monthly plans with a keyword allowance, so a solo founder pays a subscription to watch three words. Overhear charges for the searches it runs, nothing else.

The name & the mark

To overhear is to catch what was not said to you.

People rarely tag the product they are talking about. They complain about it to their followers, recommend it in a thread, or ask a community for something like it. None of that is addressed to you, and all of it is about you. Overhear listens in public places so you hear it anyway, and can answer while the conversation is still going.

The mark is a radar scope: two rings, a green sweep turning from the centre, and a blip where it found something. It is what the scanner does: go round the sources on a schedule and light up where your product comes up.

The Overhear mark

Why Overhear

Built for founders who would rather answer than search.

One person, a narrow scope, and a long-term commitment to the people who use it.

Pricing

Pay for scans, not seats

Credits are prepaid: no subscription, no plan tiers, no charge per keyword or per teammate. A search of one source costs one to three credits, a failed search costs nothing, and every search shows up on the Usage tab with what it found and how long it took. New accounts start with 1000 free credits, and credits never expire.

Craft

Rust all the way down

The scanner, the dashboard, the background jobs and the MCP endpoint are one Rust app on axum and Topcoat, rendered on the server. The browser gets about 16 kB of JavaScript; charts are plain SVG. One binary and one Postgres, which also runs the job queue.

Trust

Built in the EU, self-hostable

Overhear on overhear.dev runs on servers in the EU, with no advertising trackers and no cookie banner. Run it yourself and there are no credits at all: the Usage tab shows what every search and model call really cost.
