FAQ

Short answers about scanning, classification, alerts and your data

Scanning

How often are keywords scanned?

Brand keywords are scanned every hour, competitors and lead phrases every 6 hours; you can change the interval per keyword on the Settings tab. Scan now on the Settings tab runs a scan right away.

Why don't I see a post I know exists?

A few common reasons:

  • The post doesn't contain the keyword itself. Overhear keeps only posts whose title, text or link contains it.
  • The author is on your Ignored authors list.
  • Claude judged it unrelated. Check unrelated hidden above the feed.
  • Reddit is searched for posts from the last week, so older threads aren't picked up.

Can I track competitors?

Yes. Add the competitor's name as a keyword. Every keyword is scanned the same way and costs the same.

Do my own posts show up?

Not if your accounts are on the Ignored authors list. Starting a project from your domain fills it in from the social links on your homepage. Add anything it missed on the Settings tab, or use Mute author on a mention.

Classification

Claude put a mention in the wrong type. Can I change it?

Not yet. You can hide a mention as Not related, or bring a hidden one back with Related. Your choice always wins over Claude's.

Why do some mentions have no type?

They haven't been classified yet. That happens when classification failed or the server has no Claude API key. Unclassified mentions are retried on every scan.

How do I get better results?

Write a clear project description under Description on the Settings tab, and add categories of your own for what you care about. See Mentions.

Alerts

Who gets email alerts?

Every member of the project's organization, once alerts are turned on for the project.

Which mentions trigger an alert?

New mentions that are urgent, misinformation or buying intent, and not judged unrelated. See Alerts and webhooks.

Your data

What happens when I delete a project?

Its keywords, every mention and all testimonials are deleted for good. Items already sent to your webhook stay there.

Do the numbers on the Mentions tab cover all time?

The four numbers at the top cover the last 30 days. The feed and the counts in the type filter cover everything found so far.
